Wellness

The QOH Wellness Program is aimed at workplaces who want to make a difference to the health and culture of their workforce. The QOH Wellness Program is evidence-based and avoids some of the unnecessary and incorrect advice that some other programs promote.

The QOH APPLE principle encourages participants to:

    Act to improve their health
    Plan their lifestyle change
    Persist with the change
Live a full and longer life &
Everyday enjoy the rewards and good health

What makes us different?

1. Evidence Based Medicine:
At QOH we approach our health care and wellness programs from an evidence-based perspective. This ensures that wherever possible the work we do is based on sound scientific research that is independently appraised and internationally recognised. It is not just “our opinion”. We actively research best practice in wellness programs and have developed the QOH Wellness Program with that in mind.
2. Run by doctors who are Occupational Health Specialists:
As an Occupational Medicine practice we know you want a healthy, fit and happy workforce. The culture of the organisation is a very strong predictor of the outcomes in work injuries.

We know that involvement of the family GP is important so we collaborate with them to achieve better outcomes. This means follow-up to measure progress and provide motivation. Our results go to the GP for ongoing care.

What can the QOH Wellness Program do for you?

  • Help prevent injuries at work and speed up rehabilitation by improving fitness and morale.
  • Improve the health, well-being and happiness of the workforce and their families.
  • Demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to its workers and the community.
  • In safety-critical jobs such as drivers, helps ensure health and safety by preventing accidents due to sudden collapse of workers due to ill-health.
  • Our Wellness Program is available as individual modules, a health fair or a program of regular sessions - whatever meets your needs or budget. Some of the more popular modules are outlined below. There is a more detailed brochure available at the bottom of this page.

    Healthy eating and weight management

Seven million Australians are overweight or obese, causing heart attacks, diabetes, strokes, arthritis, high blood pressure and cancers. The QOH Wellness Program educates people about the problem and the risks.

Heart health and Cardiovascular Risk Profiling

Coronary heart disease is the greatest single cause of death among Australians and stroke is the second largest. Heart disease can be prevented by some simple measures.
The QOH Wellness Program works to modify risk factors to reduce the risk.

    Quit Smoking

This program is based on best available research and proven techniques and medications. We measure participants’ addiction level and provide starter medication in a kit to aid quitting. We educate and involve the GP to get better outcomes.

    Stress Management

We have a program designed by medical specialists and psychologists to help prevent and manage stress at work. We run group or individual sessions and provide strategies that individuals can use to recognise stress and use techniques to understand and control it. We also offer free Relaxation CDs for our clients, APPLE Stress balls and Corporate Massage...

    Skin Cancer Care

We educate about skin cancer, UV light, protecting the skin, and identifying skin cancers. We screen for skin cancers and involve the GP in their management and monitoring.
